Sadness...

It is with great sadness that I write these words to you this afternoon. A very dear friend of mine and a friend to many of you lost her beloved Thor last night. When I first met "Thor-Dog", he was a bundle of love and kisses and often accompanied Sandy and Steve here to The Tree for a quick shopping trip. At times I would go out and bring him a bone, a pat and a quick hello.

The heartbreak and anguish that Sandy and her husband, Steve are experiencing is like nothing else. You see, I have experienced these same feelings personally when I lost my Abby a few years ago. I know that it is never easy and that in the coming days, weeks, months and even years, these same feelings will resurface over and over again.

My hope is that many of you will leave her and thoughts and prayers to help her know that we are here as her friends.

My Dear Sandy,
I am so sorry for your lost. Sometime we think these silly animals... and other times we thank god we have them, because they listen to us when no one else will, they love us they are funny, an sometimes a pain in our butts, but they are ours!
Remember all those around you that love you and are here for you. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Always, Dawn

Oh Sandy-I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. I know how much it hurts. No matter how long they are able to be with us, it is never, ever long enough. The happy memories will get you through the pain...think of how he made you laugh and all the things he taught you. My thoughts are with you-

Sandy - I am so sorry for your loss. Thor is now playing with my Goldens at the Rainbow Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams or days gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hand again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but NEVER absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

Dear Sandy,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your dog, Thor. Every pet becomes part of the family and a loss causes such heart ache. I hope that time will allow for the heart ache to heal and replaced with all the fond memories of Thor.

Tribute to a Best Friend

Sunlight streams through window pane onto a spot on the floor.....
then I remember, it's where you used to lie, but now you are no more.

Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound.....
then I remember, it's where your paws would joyously abound.

A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill, then I remember,
it can't be yours..... your voice is still.

But I'll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall, and lay them with the absent voice and unused dish along the wall.

I'll wrap these treasured memories in a blanket of our love, and keep them for our best friend until we meet above.

Dear Sandy,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Our pets are so much more than pets...they truly are members of the family. I know there's a huge hole in your heart, but try to keep the happy memories alive. You'll never replace Thor and you will miss him each and every day, but know that he's free from pain and he's in a better place...waiting to see you again some day. You and Steve are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love, Tracey

Dearest Sandy,

I feel your loss, as all of us who adopt animals, and who hold them tightly in our hearts.

Our animal family members may not live as long as we humans, here on earth; but, they live forever in our memories and hearts. They are angels from the start. They guard us, listen to us, heal us, and are always unconditionally by our sides.

It is beautiful that we can give them happy, healthy homes while they are here. In return, we get more--a love that compares to no other.

I know that Thor continues to live by your side, in your memories, and deep in your heart. Thor is a happiness that lives forever, even at these sad moments. Thor is watching, loving, and holding you at every moment, like an angel.

I send you hugs. Your husband and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Thor is also in my prayers.

Please take care, and know Thor is close-by:)

Love,
Tracy

Dear Friends,

Thank you all so much for thinking of Steve and I and your wonderful words of comfort. Thor was a very special "puppy". People may not have known our names, but everyone knew Thor!

Love,

Sandy
